Jurassic Town at the Intersection of Franconia, Swabia and Bavaria

Monheim, the center of the recreation area Monheimer Alb, is a small town with a great past: The relics of Saint Walburga in today's parish church remind of the former Benedictine cloister and the place of pilgrimage.  A commemorative plaque shows where Dr. Martin Luther spent the night during his flight from Augsburg in 1518.

The surrounding area offers impressive nature and leisure opportunities, including a variety of activities linking the Donau-Ries Tourist Region with the Altmühltal Nature Park.
